This expression is typically applied to those serving clientele in the service industry. Now, let’s turn the tables; when the cashier hands you your change, or the bartender serves you your drink, or the buss-boy refills your water, do you smile at them? Smile.

How we communicate informs how we experience life; so, to enhance one’s quality of life, one must enhance his/her communication skills. Since communication is 80% listening, 20% speaking, perhaps the hack to elevating our experiences is to listen more, and talk less. “…study to be quiet…”- 1 Thessalonians 4:11

If you’re unsure of what you “bring to the table”, simply serve at the table. Serve with kindness, serve with curiosity, serve with humility. Just serve. And when the tables turn, they will always turn in your favor.
